Bon Iver Concert Sketches

Posted on August 17, 2008 by - Dana's Work, sketchbook

A good number of music fans turned out for the Bon Iver Concert on Friday Night at First Ave in Minneapolis.  The show sold out (as most of us expected) and was pretty incredible how many people crammed into the venue.  I have been trying to do a sketch or two at every live performance I go to.  It was a challenge to work with so many people in my view, elbows bumping into each side and standing on my toes to get a view from the balcony.  Below are my sloppy sketches of a really great show.  Maybe I’ll be able to turn one of them into a larger painting.

Como Park Butterfly Garden

This video clip was taken on Saturday at Como Park in St Paul MN at the Butterfly Garden.  The butterflies were like little moving paintings swirling around us, this was the 2nd visit I made this summer.  More butterflies have hatched now and the garden had quite an interesting variety!  Como park is a great place to escape the snow during the winter months & great for people watching all year.
