This weekend I am learning to paint with my left hand, Dr’s orders are to let the right rest for 2 weeks, as I injured it last week, so I’m working to paint with the left. It is taking a little longer, so check back in a day or two for images to be posted, but please check out the artist links below, these are my 3 picks of the week. I caught the last day of Gregory Euclide’s paintings today at the Groveland, and they were amazing in person! Stopped for lunch at La Belle Crepe downtown Minneapolis, my culinary art pick of the week. My 3rd pick, is local sound Artist Caly Mcmorrow, whose music I am listening to while I type, if you like what you hear on her site, you can purchase music there too & she has a calendar for performances- Enough typing, I need to get back to left handed painting.

If you have found one, post a comment of where you discovered the painting and what you did with it. Each tag is hand typed with a number on the back as to which in the series it is.

Lowertown artists are spending the cold February days & nights in their studios to work on creations of a variety of media to debut at the Spring St Paul Art Crawl! Here are a few works of art you can see in person during the crawl. Art Crawl dates & details can be found HERE.
This week and next week I’ve decided to get out of the studio to see what other artists are up to in the cities, here are my 3 regional picks of the week:
This is a work in progress, I thought it would be fun to take some of my paintings and link them to a map. A type of “tour” of locations I have painted. I’ve started with some of my more recent paintings, and will slowly add some of the older ones. Enjoy the tour!
I am still working on this piece of the cathedral hill alley. I’ve been moving it around, putting it in different light, putting it aside for a few days and now working on the sky and trees. The next step is to repaint the snow. A work in progress, and a lot of fun to marvel at the colors of the snow in early morning hours. To view the first post about this painting click here.
Accordion in a Winter Rice Park Acrylic on Canvas
St Paul is generally a quiet city in the evening. I was surprised last week when I heard the sound of an accordion coming from Rice Park. Rice Park is between the Landmark Center & the Central Library, and in February it is covered in ice & glowing with lights. I had to cut through the park to see if someone was really playing outside in the snow. With big hat on his head, and a another smaller hat for collecting tips, the accordionist played a song under the web of lights swaying in the trees. A pleasant surprise for a quiet Sunday night.
