3 Regional Art Picks of the week:
End of the week update, it has been a busy week full of great little suprises. I inherited a beautiful enormous French Easel from a painter who doesn’t want to move it across the country! It is a great addition to my studio and will hold large canvases, it must be at least 8ft tall! A friend brought some beautiful tulips over for my studio, I finished an experiment in sewing with a bag for my sketchbook, & stumbled upon my friend Jay’s photography published in Creative Arts Quarterly.
I am working writing the content for my email newsletter that will begin in April & also for those of you interested in limited edition prints, there will be more information coming soon. I’ve chosen a couple paintings that will be available in a limited quantity as fine art prints. For anyone who would like to be on my email list, I am still planning to give away a small painting during the month of April, I’ll draw the name (out of a hat!) on the Monday after the Art Crawl. Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org to be added to the mailing list!
Last but not least for my end of the week update, thank you to Mary Diedrick Hansen for her Art Crawl Sampler articles in Downtown St Paul Voice. You can pick up a copy of the paper at businesses all around Lowertown. Or click here to view the paper online.
Only 28 days until the Art Crawl!
Lowertown artists are spending the cold February days & nights in their studios to work on creations of a variety of media to debut at the Spring St Paul Art Crawl! Here are a few works of art you can see in person during the crawl. Art Crawl dates & details can be found HERE.
This week and next week I’ve decided to get out of the studio to see what other artists are up to in the cities, here are my 3 regional picks of the week:

The Link Between Wall & Wacouta
I have always known cold and snow, growing up in the Northern Midwest, and enjoy spending time outside only slowing down a little with all of the layers I have to wear! Which brings me to my point, this month there are even more reasons to get outside and celebrate Winter in St Paul…
The 122nd Saint Paul Winter Carnival runs from January 22 to February 1, 2009. There will be ice sculptures in Rice Park, a historic tour of Central Library, lit by candles, and a parade on the 31st of January! AZ Gallery will be hosting an Elementary School art show with a winter theme, click here for details.
- Torch Light Parade Route (6:00pm)
studio, some in-progress pieces on the easel, old pieces on the wall
It is a beautiful snowy night in Minnesota, everyone is moving at the pace of the snow falling. I’m working on preparing canvases for a series of Snowy Winter Night paintings of St Paul MN (and a few early morning hour pieces too…) I’ll be posting up in progress images soon, with plans to have the pieces complete by April for the Spring Art Crawl. Check back in the up coming days for photos!
