Late Night in the Studio

Posted on April 19, 2009 by - Dana's Work

photo from outside the studio

I’ve been spending the evening putting finishing touches on paintings, wires on the backs of others and varnishing the finished pieces.  I also decided tonight that the small painting I’ll give away on Sunday Night is the 5 x 7″ study of La Belle Crepe that I painted on March 1st.  It is acrylic on Maple Art Board.  So if you are on my mailing list & I draw your name,  you may be become the owner of this petite painting Sunday Evening, I’ll be contacting the winner by email.

4/50 in Finders Keepers Series Cedar Ave downtown St Paul Acrylic on Tag

This is one of my favorite streets in St Paul, from about this view point… past Central Prespyterian Church, Minnesota Public Radio, and following the route of the future lightrail tracks…

The Link Between Wall & Wacouta acrylic on canvas 2009

I have been working on this painting since the beginning of November, and have been fighting with it since the beginning!  After several changes… and many walks through the alley to look at the crooked buildings of lowertown St Paul… tonight I was just about to fall asleep when I realized what I needed to change!  An hour later I can finally say I am through fighting with this one, and can happily move on to the next and get some sleep!

Lake Superior & Ashland WI

Posted on December 22, 2008 by - Dana's Work

This is an older painting from last year but I didn’t have a photo of it until recently, it lives near Lake Superior now.  It is an image of looking out towards the Ore-dock in Ashland WI.  If you get a chance to explore Ashland there are several wonderful historic murals around the city, a great food coop which is next to the Black Cat, and several creative people working throughout the community it is also home to Northland College.

Woman in the Window

Woman in the Window24 x 36″ Acrylic on Board- for site specific project

Last weekend I completed a project that was something completely different to tackle with paint.  A friend has an old window frame up at second story in her hallway.  The house has been added on so there is wall on the other side of the window frame that has been left in place.  It is a beautiful old victorian farm house, with a very playful but elegant decor inside.  Most people may not notice this window frame high above thier heads, but if they do, this woman will now be watching all that passes through the hallway.

Sick Day…

Posted on December 22, 2008 by - Other Artists

What to do on a sick day?  It is not like it was when I was little, I almost remember sick days being fun!  I’m catching up on some emails and organizing some of my computer files.  Pretty boring compared to watching old movies from the library with my mom when I was a kid!

Snow snow beautiful snow

Posted on December 20, 2008 by - Uncategorized

All of the trees are weighted down with snow, driving through the Upper Pennisula of Michigan today it was beautiful!  Hope to post some photos up tomorrow when I return to St Paul MN, which I hear is also covered in snow.  The snow makes for inspiration around every bend as the snow transforms the normal streets and brightens up the night .
